This page sets out what we can verify about RedotPay’s licences and security practices, and what the real risks are — so you can make an informed decision. We do not guarantee safety, and we do not make claims we cannot source.
Is RedotPay safe to use?
RedotPay is a legitimate fintech company with published security certifications, mandatory identity verification for all accounts, and regulatory licences in select markets. That said, it carries the risks common to all crypto payment services: your balance is not insured, your account can be reviewed or restricted, and the service is unavailable in a growing list of countries. The honest answer is that “safe” depends on what you need it to do and where you live.
What licences and certifications does RedotPay hold?
The table below shows the claims we were able to trace to a primary source. Claims that appear only in secondary news articles are marked as unverified — we do not repeat them in our coverage until we can confirm them from an official document.

What are the main risks of using RedotPay?
Every crypto payment card carries risks that a traditional bank account does not. Here are the ones we consider material for RedotPay users, with a practical mitigation for each.
| Risk | What it means | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| No deposit insurance | Your balance is not covered by a government scheme if RedotPay becomes insolvent | Keep only what you plan to spend in the near term |
| Crypto price volatility | Assets deposited in non-stablecoin form can lose value before you spend them | Use stablecoins (USDT, USDC) for your spending balance |
| Account review or restriction | As with all payment services, RedotPay may hold or review an account for compliance purposes | Complete KYC fully and use the card for personal spending only |
| Regulatory change | RedotPay’s service has been stopped in Japan; it could be curtailed in other markets | Check the supported-countries list before making large deposits |
Is my money insured? Is RedotPay a bank?
No, on both counts. RedotPay states on its homepage: “RedotPay is a fintech service provider and not a bank.” It adds that its Multi-Currency Wallet is “provided by appropriately licensed financial institutions,” but this does not mean your balance is covered by a deposit-guarantee scheme like the FDIC in the United States or similar schemes in other countries.
In practice, this means that if RedotPay were to fail, your ability to recover funds would depend on the terms of the custodian arrangement — not on a government backstop. This is the standard situation for prepaid and crypto-linked cards, not a unique weakness of RedotPay, but it is worth understanding before you hold a large balance.
Is RedotPay registered in my country?
Regulatory status varies significantly by country. The confirmed registrations we can link to official sources are Hong Kong (Money Lender’s Licence No. 1715/2025) and Argentina (CNV PSAV No. 144). RedotPay does not publish a complete global licence list in one place.
The Japan case is a concrete example of what can happen when registration is absent. In a public notice (Help Center article 17634849; original text in Japanese), RedotPay stated that the RedotPay Group had not obtained registration as a crypto-asset exchange service provider in Japan, and that its current services to customers residing in Japan did not meet the requirements of applicable Japanese laws and regulations. RedotPay then stopped new registrations in Japan and removed its app from Japanese app stores. (Help Center article 17634849, checked 2026-11-07)
This does not mean the same outcome is inevitable in your country, but it does show that regulatory change is a real risk. For the full list of countries where RedotPay is not available, see the supported countries page. We cover country-specific questions on dedicated pages: RedotPay in India (card issuance restricted) and RedotPay in Pakistan (legal status under review). For legal status in your country — including whether using a foreign crypto card is permissible under local law — consult a qualified local lawyer.
How can I protect my own account?
The risks above are partly structural (no insurance, regulatory uncertainty), but several practical steps reduce the risks you can control. See also our full review for a broader look at how RedotPay performs in everyday use, and the KYC guide for step-by-step verification help.
- Enable two-factor authentication. Do this immediately after signing up. It is the single most effective step against unauthorised access.
- Only use the official app. Download from the official App Store or Google Play listing for your country. Third-party APK files or unofficial app links carry malware risk.
- Never buy or sell a verified account. Purchasing a “pre-verified” account violates RedotPay’s terms and risks permanent suspension. RedotPay’s one-account-per-identity policy is enforced at the identity level, not just the account level.
- Top up only what you plan to spend. Because balances are not insured, treat the wallet like a prepaid travel card — fund it for a trip or a month’s spending, not as a savings vehicle.
- Contact support through the official app. Fake support accounts targeting crypto card users are common. RedotPay’s official support is in-app only; treat any external contact claiming to be RedotPay with caution.
Is RedotPay P2P safe?
RedotPay publishes a specific disclaimer for its P2P feature: “Our service acts solely as a facilitator and does not guarantee the settlement, completion, or outcome of any trade.” (RedotPay homepage, checked 2026-11-07) This means RedotPay does not stand behind P2P transactions the way it does for card payments. P2P also carries the standard risks of trading with unknown counterparties. Use P2P only with people you trust and for amounts you can afford to lose if a trade is disputed.

FAQ
Is RedotPay a bank?
No. RedotPay explicitly states it is a fintech service provider, not a bank. Its Multi-Currency Wallet is held by appropriately licensed financial institutions, but your balance is not covered by a government deposit-insurance scheme. If you need deposit protection, a licensed bank account provides something a prepaid crypto card does not.
Can RedotPay freeze or restrict my account?
Like all payment services, RedotPay may review or restrict an account as part of compliance checks — for example, if unusual activity is detected or additional verification is needed. RedotPay does not publish a detailed list of conditions that trigger a restriction. If your account is restricted, the recommended first step is to contact RedotPay’s 24/7 in-app support and follow the instructions for any additional verification. If you used your account only for personal spending and completed KYC fully, most reviews are resolved through that channel.
Is it safe to buy a verified RedotPay account?
No. Purchasing a pre-verified account violates RedotPay’s terms of service and risks permanent suspension of both the account you bought and any other account linked to your identity. RedotPay enforces a strict one-verified-account-per-identity rule and uses Sumsub to cross-check identities. Accounts bought from third parties are routinely identified and suspended. There is no legitimate way to bypass the KYC requirement.
