What You’ll Learn on This Page — Information from an Authorized Agent
On this page, drawing on our experience as an authorized agent and support center that assists customers daily, we’ll walk you through the process step by step—from creating an RedotPay account, through identity verification (KYC), to the issuance of your first card.
If you have all the necessary documents ready, the process can be completed in as little as 15 minutes, or at most 1 hour. We’ll also point out areas where users often run into trouble, so if you follow along step by step as you read, you should almost certainly be able to complete the process successfully on your first try.
If you have any questions during the application process, please feel free to contact us at any time via the “Contact Us” page. We’ll provide courteous support in Japanese.
Overview of Registration — 5 Steps
First, let me give you an overview. The RedotPay registration process consists of the following five main steps.
- Download the app
- Create an account using your email address or phone number (enter our center’s invitation code)
- Uploading identity verification (KYC) documents
- Scanning a Photo of Your Face (Liveness Check)
- Card issuance and initial deposit
It might sound simple when listed like this, but in reality, many people get stuck on steps 2 (invitation code) and 3 (photo capture).I’ll explain the reasons in detail later, but to give you the bottom line first: “Since our center’s invitation code can only be entered during account creation, make sure you have it handy before clicking the registration button,” and “Take a photo of your ID under natural light, placing it flat on a desk and shooting from directly above.” Just by following these two steps, the registration process becomes much easier.
Step 1 — Get the App Correctly
First, search for “RedotPay” in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android). This may seem like a simple step, but there’s one important point to note: there are times when the top search results include educational apps with similar names or unaffiliated third-party apps.
The app you should download is the one listed under “Redotpay Limited” as the developer. The icon features a “P” inside a red circle, and it has far more reviews than other apps. If you accidentally install an app with a similar name, there is a risk that the personal information and money transfer details you enter could be sent to the wrong place, so please be sure to verify the developer’s name.
When you launch the app after downloading it, a prompt such as “Allow access to location?”“Allow notifications?” will appear. Location data is used to detect fraudulent activity during payments, and granting permission makes it less likely for your activity to be flagged as a “suspicious login.” Similarly, notifications provide real-time updates on deposits and transactions, so we strongly recommend keeping them turned ON.
Step 2 — Creating an Account and Using Our Center’s Invitation Code (This Is the Most Important Part)
Once you open the app, tap the “Sign Up” button. You can create an account using either your email address or phone number, but we recommend using your email address. This is because it makes account transfer smoother when you switch devices, and it’s easier to receive authentication codes for logging in.
Once you enter your email address, you’ll immediately receive a verification code (a 6-digit number). After entering this, you’ll be taken to the password setup screen. We strongly recommend that your password be at least 12 characters long and include a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Since RedotPay holds real assets such as USDT, if your email address, password, and device combination are compromised, it could lead to unauthorized withdrawals.
The next screen is the most important one. A field will appear where you can enter your “Referral ID (Invitation Code).” Our center’s invitation code can only be entered during account creation. Once registration is complete, the system does not allow you to add it later.
If you enter the referral code from our center and pass KYC verification, you’ll receive a sign-up bonus equivalent to 5 USD (as of May 2026). This bonus can be used directly as part of your balance when making card payments—it’s essentially the cost of your “first cup of coffee.” Since you’re going to register anyway, there’s no reason not to take advantage of it.Please note that the sign-up bonus is valid for 30 days after receipt and cannot be applied toward the issuance fees for virtual or physical cards.
Unfortunately, there’s almost no way to recover if you forget to enter the referral code. Technically, your only option is to create a new account with a different email address, but in that case, you’ll need to withdraw all crypto assets from your old account before deleting it, which is a hassle. Please don’t proceed thinking, “I’ll just enter it later.”
If you are unsure of our center’s referral code, please contact us via the “Contact Us” page before registering. We will immediately provide you with the latest code.
Step 3 — Uploading KYC Documents
Once you’ve created your account, go to the “Verify Account” or “KYC” section at the top of the home screen or in the settings menu. Identity verification for RedotPay is conducted through Sumsub, an independent KYC platform.Sumsub is a service widely adopted in the crypto assets industry and supports ID formats from around the world, so you can submit either a Japanese passport, driver’s license, or My Number Card.
Please prepare the following two documents:
The first is a government-issued photo ID. While passports tend to be accepted most smoothly, driver’s licenses and My Number Cards (front side only) are also acceptable. The two key requirements are that the document is valid and that the text is clearly legible.
The other is a photo of your face taken on the spot. This is part of a system called a “liveness check,” which verifies that you are actually present rather than just submitting a photo. Simply follow the instructions—slowly shake your head from side to side or blink—and you’re done.
Here are some tips for photographing your ID. The top three reasons for rejection are shadows, reflections, and blurriness. To avoid these, the golden rule is to place your ID flat on a desk and take the photo directly from above.Hold your smartphone about 15–20 cm away from the ID and tap the screen to focus on the text. Since the flash can easily cause glare, it’s generally best to leave it off. Natural light from a window is ideal for photographing documents.
Step 4 — Face Photo Scan (Liveness Check)
When you proceed to taking your photo, we recommend removing your glasses and mask and taking the photo against a white or light-colored wall. The app’s instructions are displayed in English, but they’re simple: “Face forward,” “Slowly turn your head to the right,” “Slowly turn your head to the left,” and “Blink”—that’s about it.
In our experience, moving your head too quickly tends to cause recognition errors. The trick is to take 2–3 seconds after the instruction appears to move your head slowly.
You’ll be notified of the review results as soon as a few minutes, though it usually takes 1–3 business days. Sumsub may sometimes request additional documents; in such cases, you may need to provide a utility bill or certificate of residence that verifies your address.
If the review process is taking longer than expected or you’re having trouble with the additional documents, please contact us through our “Contact Us” page. As your agent, we’re here to help you smoothly pass the KYC process.
Step 5 — Card Issuance and Initial Deposit
Once your KYC is approved, you can finally proceed with card issuance. If you choose a virtual card, the card number, expiration date, and CVC will be displayed within the app the moment the issuance fee (approximately 10 USDT) is deducted from your balance. It will be ready for immediate use in online payments.
If you choose a physical card, once you pay the issuance fee (approximately 100 USDT), the shipping process to your registered address will begin. For deliveries within Japan, it’s best to allow about 2–4 weeks from application to arrival. If you’re planning to travel abroad, it’s safer to apply early by working backward from your travel date.
Finally, make your first deposit into your wallet. From the “Wallet” section in the app, select “Deposit,” then choose the currency you wish to deposit (USDT is recommended) and the chain (TRC20 is recommended). Copy the displayed wallet address to your sending exchange or wallet and make the transfer. For USDT TRC20, you can deposit as little as 1 USDT, and the funds will appear in your balance in about 5 minutes.
What I want to strongly, strongly emphasize here is: “Always start with a small test transfer.” Send about 1–2 USDT as a test to confirm that it arrives safely before proceeding with the actual transfer. Just this simple step can prevent 99% of the most common transfer errors (sending to the wrong chain).
Common Pitfalls and Solutions
Based on our experience as an agency that has assisted with hundreds of registrations, we’ve compiled a list of common issues and how to resolve them.
If your “KYC is repeatedly rejected” — This is almost always due to issues with the document photos. The cause is usually shadows, glare, or blurriness, so please adjust your shooting environment (light source position, background, and distance) and resubmit. It’s not uncommon to have to resubmit 3–4 times, so please don’t get discouraged and keep trying.
If you’re told “Name Spelling Doesn’t Match” — The Romanized name you entered in your account must match exactly with the Romanized name on your ID. Please transcribe it exactly as it appears on your ID, including spaces, hyphens, and the inclusion of a middle name.
If you are asked to provide “proof of address” — It must be dated within the last 3 months. Acceptable documents include utility bills, bank statements, and certificates of residence. While printed copies of digital statements are often accepted, the surest way is to submit physical documents received by mail.
If you encounter any issues beyond the scenarios listed here, our center will assist you as your agent. Please feel free to contact us.
4 Settings to Configure After Registration
Once your card is issued, be sure to complete the following four settings right away.
First, enable two-factor authentication (2FA). Be sure to turn on authentication using a TOTP app such as Google Authenticator or Authy. Relying solely on SMS authentication does not completely eliminate the risk of SIM swap fraud.
Second, turn on transaction notifications. By setting up notifications for all card transactions, wallet transfers, and logins, you can ensure you’ll immediately notice any unauthorized activity.
Third, set spending limits on your card. We recommend starting with relatively low limits—such as 50,000 yen per day—and increasing them only when necessary.
Fourth, store your recovery code. Write down the recovery code (a sequence of numbers) that appears when you enable 2FA on a piece of paper and keep it in a safe or a bank safe deposit box. This will serve as your last line of defense if you lose your smartphone.
